TIB Opens Branch In Georgia; Builds Correspondent Staff In Southeast

June 15, 2009

TIB-The Independent BankersBank announced the opening today of a full branch just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. The branch is located in the same building that already houses TIB’s card processing center, otherwise known as Bankers Bank Card Services.   Concurrently, TIB also announced the election of a Southeastern-based Correspondent Banker, as the bank fulfills its promise of offering continued service to the community banks throughout the region.

According to TIB President and CEO, Michael O’Rourke, these moves serve as confirmation to bankers across the Southeastern United States that TIB is committed to being a prominent part of the region’s correspondent landscape for the long term. “Our new branch will enable us to provide prompt, personalized service to all of our new friends and customers who continue to join us in the wake of Silverton’s closure,” noted TIB President and CEO, Michael O’Rourke. “TIB was created and has been built on the philosophy of cultivating long term relationships with our customers. This is a natural progression of that philosophy and should serve as a clear indication of our commitment to serving bankers throughout the region for decades to come.”

Based in Texas, this is TIB’s third branch, following the establishment of posts in both Oklahoma and California. The Bank’s typical business model has been to quickly establish a physical presence by hiring local, seasoned correspondent officers who know the area’s bankers and understand the market.   In keeping with that model, TIB also announced the hiring of Paul E. Taylor, who will serve as Vice President/Correspondent Relations Officer for Tennessee.

“We are very excited to be on our way toward building the best and most reliable team of correspondent bankers in the Southeast,” noted TIB President and CEO, Michael O’Rourke. “TIB is fully committed to serving the banks of this great region for decades to come. We already serve nearly 200 banks in the region. Both our current and future customers can look forward to many more announcements like this very soon.”

Taylor has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and provides TIB with a seasoned and trusted correspondent officer who knows the local bankers and understands the Tennessee market. He served as a correspondent officer for Compass Bank for eight years, after which he worked for the Tennessee Bankers Association. Most recently, he assisted bank CEOs and Directors with compensation and benefit packages as a Senior Consultant with Clark Consulting. In his role with TIB, Taylor will be based in Brentwood and hold the title of Vice President/Correspondent Relations Officer and will serve the correspondent needs of the community banks in Tennessee.

TIB has enjoyed strong and stable performance over the past two decades. The bank posted record earnings in 2008, coupled with a record amount of revenue shared with its customer banks. More recently, TIB posted the second best first quarter in the bank’s history through March of this year.

“Time and again, we hear, from banks in the Southeast, that they are looking for a stable correspondent partner who will be here for the long term,” explained O’Rourke. “Based on the consistently successful performance of our bank, coupled with the commitment we have shown to long term service across the region, we are seeing a large number of former Silverton customers move their accounts to TIB, as well as to other bankers’ banks in the region.”

TIB is a full service bankers’ bank, providing correspondent banking products and services to more than 1,400 community banks in 46 states, plus Guam and Bermuda. The Bank is owned by over 480 of the very banks it serves and has offices in its home base of Texas as well as Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. TIB and its detailed financial information can be found on the internet at www.mybankersbank.com.
